Laura Miller, LMSW, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Marist College and her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Columbia University. While in her Master’s program, Laura was a fellow of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training program under the supervision of Dr. André Ivanoff, president of the Linehan Institute’s training company, Behavioral Tech, LLC. While in this program, Laura completed her DBT Intensive Training, and also attended trainings on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Exposure Therapy, the Unified Protocol, and Imminent Suicide Risk.
Laura completed her clinical internship at the Mood Disorders Center of the Child Mind Institute, where she delivered comprehensive DBT to children and adolescents experiencing emotion dysregulation. In addition to practicing DBT, Laura is experienced in delivering other evidence-based interventions such as CBT and Behavioral Parent Training (BPT). Laura delivers treatment both individually and in group modalities, and has experience in a variety of settings. She has facilitated several psychoeducation groups focusing on emotion regulation, substance abuse and relapse prevention, and trauma and resilience. Prior to joining Dr. Hamlet’s practice, Laura worked as an outpatient therapist in New York City, providing comprehensive DBT and CBT to children, adolescents, and adults.
Laura is dedicated to building genuine relationships with her clients, while tailoring empirically-supported techniques to fit each individual’s specific needs and long-term goals.
